Margrave Wilhelm leaves Läänemaa
30. September 1534
In late summer of 1534, Buxhoeveden raided the bishopric again, but Wilhelm was unable to counter. Most of Läänemaa fell to Buxhoeveden, and his forces threatened Wilhelm's residence in Haapsalu. Hence, Wilhelm decided to leave the bishopric on September 30.
Before he left, he freed his vassals from their oath of loyalty, then rode undercover to Riga, passing through Order's domain again. Few days later, all of Läänemaa, except the fort in Vigala, fell to Buxhoeveden.
