Win of reformation in Tallinn

to map

25. January 1525

Although the sympathy of the town council had been for a long time in the side of the new religious people in Tallinn, the final breakthrough still arrived at the beginning of 1525 when the Dominicans were driven away from the city and only protestant preachers started to preach in the downtown.

Only Toompea remained under the clerical power of the bishop and his priests. The Cistercian Mihkli nun cloister also preserved in Tallinn which was supported by the powerful Harju-Viru knighthood, Pirita cloister also continued its activities.
