The emperor Nikolai II visited Estonia repeatedly already as a child, being often together with his parents on a holiday in Haapsalu and Pullapää.

 But pursuant to his coronation as an emperor he did not pay an official visit before the beginning of the 20th century. His first visit in 1901 was related to the following of the military manoeuvres near Narva and Jamburg (currently Kingissepa).
