Fifth elections of the Riigikogu

to map

21. May 1932

Three major political powers participated in the fifth elections of the composition of the Riigikogu: the united farmers, members of the Central Party and socialists, but also representatives of national minorities and those who stood for left workers and the poor.

With the elections held of 21-23 May 1932, farmers got 42, members of the Central Party 23 and socialists 22 places. Although the formation of coalition was considerably easier in this parliament than the earlier ones where the Riigikogu was fragmented mostly between ten parties, major issues appeared right away.

Only after 29 days, Karl Einbund managed to form a suitable government from farmers and members of the Central Party.
