Livonians attempt last counterattack

to map

October 1559

At the end of 1559, Livonians attempted to take initiative in the war for the last time when their forces again proceeded to the area of Tartu Diocese under the leadership of Grandmaster Kettler and Coadjutor Christoph, the Archbishop of Riga.

In the small encounters, they managed to beat the Russians, but did not manage the siege of Tartu this time, either, because Kettler and Christoph had an argument. This is how the last attempt at attack by Livonians ended.
