Johann Koell became the head of the non-German congregation of St. Olaf's church

to map

We find a note from 1525, saying that Johann Koell serves as the head of the non-German congregation of St. Olaf's church. It was probably thanks to the reformation that a fairly young man rose to such position, because the new creed desperately needed preachers, whose educational background was not always the primary issue. We know that Koell graduated from Tallinn's Dome school, but there is no data about his further educational career. It is possible that he studied in some university, but this cannot be proven.
