Rakvere receives town privileges from Denmark

Probably already during the pre-crusade era, a fort called Tarvapea (Tarvanpää) was located in Rakvere.

During first century of the Danish rule, a stone fort was built, and the trade settlement that formed next to it received town privileges in 1302.

The privileges were granted by king Erik VI Menved
